Clinton, Obama fight for Illinois dollars

CHICAGO (AP) - Barack Obama lives here, but some of the state's leading Democratic fundraisers are opening their wallets for former Illinoisan Hillary Rodham Clinton.

1 of Obama's chief rivals for president, Clinton is having her second fundraiser in Illinois later this month.

Her hosts are high-profile attorneys, a wealthy philanthropist, longtime Clinton family friends and business leaders, including a son of the Reverend Jesse Jackson, although the civil rights leader backs Obama.

Clinton campaign spokesman Blake Zeff says the New York senator is trying to capitalize on a May fundraiser in Chicago that raked in about $300,000.

Raising money in Obama's home state won't be easy for Clinton. But there are dollars for her here because she grew up in a Chicago suburb and has political alliances here that date to her years as first lady.
